MISSION STATEMENT

“Worst case” is not a metaphor to be reclaimed. It is a category to be respected. Risk matrices, contingency slides, insurance policies - these are not the enemies of a meaningful life; they are its final, most honest form. Camus told us that the absurd arises from the collision between our hunger for meaning and the universe’s silence. He proposed we live inside that tension, defiantly, gloriously. We propose a simpler solution: fill out the form. The absurd does not need to be endured if it can be adequately risk-assessed. Sisyphus, we regret to inform you, was simply missing a project management framework.

The notion that life is will, momentum - a force answering to nothing but itself - is, on reflection, a liability. We have reviewed it. We do not recommend it. A force that answers to nothing but itself is unaudited. We prefer forces that answer to a supervisor, a compliance officer, or at minimum a shared calendar invite. Die Wille Zur Macht has been refiled under legacy ideation. Requires stakeholder sign-off before further use.

We do not believe in growth through loss. We have modeled it, and the return on investment is poor. Becoming, properly understood, is a change-management process: stakeholders informed; timelines respected; no character permitted to transform without a documented business case. Kafka wrote about a man who woke up changed beyond recognition and found the world unprepared to accommodate him. We consider this a failure of onboarding, not a metaphysical condition. It would not happen here. We have a checklist for that.

A certain kind of evil can be described as banal, thoughtless, procedural, terrifyingly ordinary. We do not comment on evil. We comment on efficiency and note only that thoughtless and procedural, properly harnessed, produce excellent quarterly consistency. What some call the death of the soul, we call standardization.

We write scenarios, scripts, and copy engineered to minimize the probability of anything happening. Conflict is a known hazard and has been designed out wherever feasible. Decay is scheduled maintenance. Resurrection has been deprioritized pending further review. We do not say yes to life; we say “noted, and we’ll come back to you.” Our scenarios are not stories with a pulse. Vital signs, after all, are simply another metric that can go wrong.

Max Weber warned us of the iron cage: a rationalized world where meaning is slowly replaced by procedure, and where the spirit calcifies into administration. He meant it as a tragedy. We read it as a floor plan. We do not avoid the worst-case scenario. We are the worst-case scenario, filed correctly with no incidents to report.
